Rescue Program

The Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of South Australia initiated a Re-Home / Rescue Service in the year 2000.

The main aim of the Re-Home / Rescue Service is to ensure the well-being of any Ridgebacks that require our assistance – whether that be finding them a new home, rescuing them from animal shelters or assisting their owners with behavioural problems to help the dog remain with its family.

A lot of our cases arise due to changes in family circumstances which mean they can no longer keep their pet. The Re-Home / Rescue Service endeavours to find these animals the great new "forever" homes they need and deserve.

HOW YOU CAN HELP
Occasionally the need arises for a Ridgeback to be placed in a ‘foster’ home until a suitable new home can be found. If you would be interested in becoming a ‘foster’ home please contact one of the Rescue Co-Ordinators for a chat.

Alternatively, if you think an older dog might be the right companion for you, please contact us. Thankfully, in South Australia we don’t have a large number of dogs looking for homes at any given time, but when the need arises it is essential to have possible new homes on hand.

Finally, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all those people who have so generously donated to the Ridgeback Re-Home / Rescue fund. This fund is an integral part of our Service, as when a true ‘rescue’ dog comes along sometimes the necessary vet fees can escalate dramatically. If you would like to donate to the Rescue fund please contact the Club or one of our Rescue Co-Ordinators for details.

The RR Club of SA is assisting the RR Club of Qld in finding a
new home for these dogs.  If you can help, please see the contact details below

Nubia is 3 yrs old next month, desexed and microchipped. She is a liver nosed ridgeback but without the ridge, She is very energetic and playful, she is good with other dogs and cats, loves kids.

Malick is 6 years old, male, not desexed but soon to be done and not microchipped. He is Nubias father bought from a breeder without paper's He has a whole ridge, very strong dog, love's kids and other dogs and is very affectionate and loves attention, loves going for walks, He was a hunting dog and has hunting instincts so would not be suitable to be around wild animals.

They need a new home together due to their owners having a disability and not being able to walk them but also as they have had to move to a very small block. If you are interested please contact Beatriz on 02 9666-6881 Mobile - 0408613057. They are currently located in Sydney.
