Rescue Program
The Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of South Australia initiated a Re-Home / Rescue Service in the year 2000.
The main aim of the Re-Home / Rescue Service is to ensure the well-being of any Ridgebacks that require our assistance whether that be finding them a new home, rescuing them from animal shelters or assisting their owners with behavioural problems to help the dog remain with its family.
A lot of our cases arise due to changes in family circumstances which mean they can no longer keep their pet. The Re-Home / Rescue Service endeavours to find these animals the great new "forever" homes they need and deserve.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
Occasionally the need arises for a Ridgeback to be placed in a foster home until a suitable new home can be found. If you would be interested in becoming a foster home please contact one of the Rescue Co-Ordinators for a chat.
Alternatively, if you think an older dog might be the right companion for you, please contact us. Thankfully, in South Australia we dont have a large number of dogs looking for homes at any given time, but when the need arises it is essential to have possible new homes on hand.
Finally, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all those people who have so generously donated to the Ridgeback Re-Home / Rescue fund. This fund is an integral part of our Service, as when a true rescue dog comes along sometimes the necessary vet fees can escalate dramatically. If you would like to donate to the Rescue fund please contact the Club or one of our Rescue Co-Ordinators for details.
8 and a half year old female called Lexie is looking for a new home!

Lexie is a very laid back and beautiful dog. She has a very gentle and loving personality and is great with other dogs and with all people. She is really missing her owner and we think it must have been a male as she seems to bond with men very quickly. She was found with an existing lame front leg, and vets have advised there is nothing that can improve this. She still enjoys her walks but only gentle ones. She is definitely an inside dog and loves curling up beside you. She would love a new home with lots of human company.
If you are interesting in finding out more about Lexie, please contact Ricki at the RR Club of Qld on ridgies1@bigpond.net.au
